Families are invited to get up close and hands-on with the big machines that help keep our city running at the inaugural “Power the Night” Touch-A-Truck Event, hosted by the City of DeLand’s Public Works Department. The event will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 23 at Earl Brown Park.
Often working behind the scenes, Public Works employees are among the first to respond following hurricanes, tornadoes and other natural disasters – helping to clear roads of debris and ensuring critical infrastructure is operational in a timely manner.
Highlights of the event include:
- Live equipment demonstrations
- Paint-a-Truck bucket activity
- Local vendors and games
- Free food provided by the Rotary Club of Downtown DeLand
Admission is free and all ages are welcome. The celebration coincides with National Public Works Week, with this year’s theme being “People, Purpose, Presence”.
