Therapeutic riding uses horse-related activities such as grooming and riding to positively impact the physical, cognitive and emotional well being of people with disabilities.
Hope Reins is a PATH (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsmanship International) Premier Accredited Center (PAC) with Path Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructors on staff. Our instructors are patient, kind and experienced in the art of teaching riding and horsemanship. Our equine partners are calm, quiet, gentle and affectionate.
The goal of Hope Reins Therapeutic Riding Program is to not only improve the student's riding skills, but to enhance cognitive, perceptual and motor skills through an integrative and goal-oriented approach.
Our professionals work with assistants and volunteers to plan and implement the best possible riding program for each participant. Participants in our program show improvement in balance, muscle tone, posture, flexibility and motor planning, as well as cognitive abilities, social skills and emotional and psychological well-being. Evaluations and progress reports are provided at regular intervals throughout the program.
Hope Reins serves individuals from 4 years old and up who have cognitive, physical, and emotional disabilities. Although we can serve most individuals, there are some precautions and contraindications to consider.
