

The preserve is a mosaic of upland and wetland natural communities including mesic and wet flatwoods, cypress domes, strand swamp and wet prairie. The preserve consists of 1,400 acres situated almost entirely in the St. Johns River valley.
There are 5 trails totaling 8.2 miles.

Boating/canoeing - There is no boat ramp on the property; however, there is a small dock. A 24-hour boat launch is available further north at the Lake Ashby Boat Ramp.
