 ad!<br /><br />The Volusia County Explore Volusia program invites you to jo
 in Environmental Specialist Tommy Nordmann on a paddle on the second larges
 t lake in Florida. Learn about the military history of the lake, and explor
 e canals and streams that feed into it. Participants will also learn about 
 the Volusia Forever program, and we’ll search for bald eagles and other nat
 ive wildlife.<br /><br />**Important note: Please arrive 30 minutes prior t
 o organize gear and complete a waiver. Waivers must be completed in full to
  participate in the program. You can download and complete a waiver ahead o
 f time by visiting Explore Volusia.<br /><br />** Some map apps and GPS dev
 ices will take you to the incorrect location. Use the following directions 
 to guide you to the kayak launch.<br /><br />From Nine Mile Point Road, tak
 e a right onto Willow Cove Road at the pole barn surrounded by a chain link
  fence. (If you've arrived at the parking area by the pavilion and fishing 
 pier, you've gone too far.)<br />Turn left onto Jennings Road. You will go 
 through an open, orange, metal gate.<br />Turn right onto Powerline Road.<b
 r />Look for the wooden fences and turn left into the parking area.<br />**
  Nine Mile Point Road is a very long dirt road, and road conditions can var
 y depending on rainfall and maintenance. At times, the road can be very bum
 py and you'll need to travel at slow speeds. Please allow yourself ample ti
 me.<br /><br />** Four-wheel drive or all-wheel drive are recommended due t
 o soft sand when roads are dry and mud when roads are wet.<br /><br />ACTIV
 ITY: A 2.5-hour moderate paddling trip. Difficulty will depend on wind and 
 waves.<br /><br />RESERVATIONS: Required. Unless you have a confirmation em
 ail, your are not registered.<br /><br />TICKETS: No printed ticket is nece
 ssary.<br /><br />AGES: Ages 10 and up are welcome. Children must be accomp
 anied by an adult.<br /><br />ATTIRE: Wear appropriate clothing for the out
 doors and closed-toe shoes that can get wet.<br /><br />WHAT TO BRING: Wate
 rcraft (kayak, canoe, or SUP), personal flotation device (must be worn whil
 e paddling), emergency whistle, water to drink, sunscreen, and bug spray<br
  /><br />** Six, single sit-on-top kayaks (plus gear) are available at no c
 ost. You can reserve one in the "add-ons" section under "tickets." You must
  have a general admission ticket for each person reserving a kayak. First c
 ome, first served!<br /><br />FACILITIES: There is a port-a-let on site but
  no running water. The port-a-let is located near the pavilion and fishing
